About Brisbane

The sub-tropical city of Brisbane is located on a winding river, just inland from beautiful Moreton Bay. Brisbane is a vibrant yet safe and clean city with a multitude of options for your free time. Early summer in Brisbane is pretty close to perfect with sunny days and balmy evenings. The perfect conditions to enjoy our enviable outdoors lifestyle.

Like most large cities of the world, Brisbane has a wide range of activities on offer. Here are some suggestions for your spare time.

Get out on the Brisbane River
Try a ride on one of the many CityCat ferries that cruise the length of the river. With a day rover ticket you can get on and off as you please and and see Brisbane from a whole new perspective. Check out SouthBank, the City, New Farm and Bulimba.

Check out SouthBank
Across the river from the city centre, the leisure and cultural precinct of SouthBank is a must-see for all visitors to Brisbane. Enjoy a swim at the famous man-made beach that overlooks the city. Take a walk from Southbank through to the Story Bridge following the pathway underneath the Kangaroo Point cliffs. Enjoy the carnival atmosphere of the Friday night and weekend markets. Cultural options abound with the Queensland Art Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre. There are food options galore and maybe check out Little Stanley Street or catch a movie.

Go shopping
The city centre and a number of large suburban shopping centres provide retail therapy relief. Late night shopping can be enjoyed until 9pm on Thursdays in the suburban centres and Friday nights in the city centre. There are Friday night and weekend markets at Southbank, or check out the Saturday and Sunday markets at the Valley (Fortitude Valley) for hip fashion, unique jewellery and accessories. For those who love a bargain there's always the outlets near the airport.

Catch a movie
There are loads of cinemas in Brisbane showing a wide range of movies to suit all tastes. You will find cinemas in the city centre or at the major suburban shopping centres situated nearby to your accommodation.
