Social Events

 

Besides the sport and great competition, the Southern Skies Challenge is also about having fun, meeting new friends, and exploring Brisbane. We have arranged a number of planned events for both players and team management / supporters, so everyone can meet and enjoy everything the Challenge has to offer.

 

Managers Welcome Meeting

On the Sunday evening there is a casual welcome meeting for all team managers and coaches. Held at Brisbane Boys' College, this evening offers the opportunity to meet the organisers and each other, and discuss the details of the week ahead.

 

Players Movie Night

On the Monday evening after dinner there is a Movie Night held at the Eldorado Cinema Complex at Indooroopilly. All players will enjoy a new release movie with team mates. The evening is extremely well supervised with Southern Skies staff and security.

 

Challenge Dinner

While players are enjoying a movie, coaches and managers relfect on the first days play at the Official Challenge Dinner. This evening is hosted at the Indooroopilly Hotel's Amber Bar & Grill. Relax over a 2-course meal and drinks. A great chance to enjoy a relaxing evening with new and old friends.

 

LaserForce and Barefoot Bowls Social Nights

On the Tuesday and Wednesday evenings after dinner, teams will be able to enjoy some additional planned activities. Laserforce is an indoor laser tag game where teams can put their combat skills to the test. Teams will be able to pit their skills of a different kind against each other on Wednesday in a nighttime game of barefoot bowls.

 

Farewell BBQ and Awards Ceremony

At the conclusion of the consolation finals games on the Friday afternoon, all teams are invited back to Oakman Oval to watch the final overs of the Grand Final. Southern Skies will also host a BBQ feast for all participants. After the last winning runs have been scored, it’s time to celebrate a great week with the Challenge Awards Ceremony. The winning team will be awarded a significant take home trophy and momentos for the champion players. The Southern Skies Challenge All Stars Team will also be announced and those players selected for this prestigious honour will receive a distinctive keepsake.

 

Optional Theme Park Day

Many teams opt to visit either Dreamworld or Wet'n Wild on the Saturday before they return home. Please let us know and we can help arrange discount tickets and bus transfers, if required.
