Social Equity Programs

Southern Skies Events is involved in a number of social equity programs to actively help disadvantaged groups and return benefits to the wider community.

Over the past ten years, Southern Skies Events has provided financial aid to seriously disadvantaged groups to help them attend Southern Skies Events, and provide these young people the opportunity of a lifetime that they would never otherwise have. These groups include the Tygerberg Rugby Club, Hatfield Christian College and Plumstead High School from South Africa; Lloyd McDermott Rugby and Bamaga Netball Club, Queensland based indigenous teams, and Granville Boys' High School in Sydney.

Southern Skies Events utilises top quality brand new balls in each of the competitions hosted. After the winter tournament, Southern Skies donates the netball, soccer and rugby balls to Queensland based teams and primary schools. Funding for sports equipment can be difficult to come by for small schools or refugee community teams, and this small gesture on the part of Southern Skies can make a world of difference to young sportspeople.

Southern Skies also actively sponsors various groups within their host organisation, Brisbane Boys' College. Such groups to benefit from monetary or in-kind sponsorship include The Robotics Club, the Junior School June Tour, the Chinese Class Tour, Interact, the Mathematics Club, the Cricket, Football and AFL Parent Support Groups.
