Social & Cultural Activities

The Southern Skies Tournament is not just sport, sport, sport … we love to have fun in our down-time as well. Over the years we have established a comprehensive and well supervised social events program to cater for what is an important component for young athletes and coaches too. There are a number of planned events that are an integral part of the Tournament experience.

 

Sunday Night : Managers Meeting

On the Sunday night of your arrival, representatives from each team will be brought together for a briefing meeting and some welcome drinks. This is a great opportunity for coaches and managers to meet the Southern Skies Venue Managers and discuss the week ahead. The meeting will be held at Kings College, Upland Road, St. Lucia at 7.00pm.

 

Monday Night : Cultural Concert

The Tournament Cultural Concert features performances from the touring teams from around the world. You will be welcomed by an indigenous dance troupe who will permform a "welcome to country", and then it will be your turn. Many teams have told us that this evening has been one of the great highlights of the week ... so get your athletes primed to present something bold.

 

Tuesday Night : Tournament Dance Party / Official Dinner

The Tournament Dance Party pumps up the volume and the athletes rock the night away with their new international friends. Very well supervised, so team management don't have to worry about a thing.

The Official Tournament Dinner for coaches, managers and supporters gives the adults a chance to socialise, renew old acquaintances or make new ones.

 

Wednesday : Rest Day / Theme Park Visit

A rest day has been built into the tournament week to give teams a well earned break from competition. Teams can choose between between Dreamworld - one of Australia's biggest and most exciting theme parks; or Wet'n Wild - a splashtacular water fun park with heated pools and adrenalin pumping water slides.

Friday : Awards Ceremonies

After the last tries and goals have been scored, it's time for the Tournament Awards Ceremonies held at each sporting venue. Find out who was victorious in the different divisions and those who were nominated into the prestigious All Stars Teams. Relive great sporting moments from the Tournament as Southern Skies bids you a fond farewell.
